Critical Reflection on Module Learning and the Presentation Showcase
My goal for myself
through this module was to understand the right time to interject my opinions,
thoughts or feelings and to be more clear when communicating. In a module that
required tons of ideas and teamwork, I initially struggled to be coherent in
communicating with my thoughts. However, I have learnt a lot about myself
through this course. Firstly, I have realised the importance of being patient when
I am having conversations. Patience in waiting for what others might have to
say and patience when what they have to say may not be what I want to hear. Henceforth,
honing this skill will enable me to grow as a person. While it might take a
concerting effort every day to pause and internalise my thoughts before
speaking this will benefit me as I learn how to empathise with others and
increase my span of thoughts as I become more willing to learn.
At the
presentation showcase, Passion Pavers was an outstanding group whose
presentation resonated with me. It was apparent that the group members understood
the topic of PWD’s and their struggles when travelling. I found their topic to be
unique and refreshing as while most teams chose to pick out apparent problems in
the industry, Passion Pavers chose to shed light on such an important group of
people whom are often neglected by hotels. All presenters in the team maintained
eye contact with the audience and had a good pace while presenting. They
interjected pauses and rhetoric questions to relay an impactful and emotional piece.
It was apparent that both verbal and non-verbal cues were well thought out and planned
to instigate thought. To tie the presentation together, their case study training
video featured the L-O-V-E model clearly and the acronym enabled audience to take
something memorable along with them after the presentation.
